Discover Sicily ~ 5 things you need to do in Modica

Maryland, Baltimore - Report by Hailey. Today, we will give information about Discover Sicily ~ 5 things you need to do in Modica .

there is something absolutely perfect on a light threaded on main street...

to discover me Modica has been as that very first minute to discover San Gimignano a life he is a.

now God-is-this-same-real completely staggering, wonderous, can't-quite-believe-what-you're-seeing, who, on some level, inexplicably changes your life.

modica is in the province of Ragusa Sicily South East, bordered by the towns of Ragusa and Noto. All three cities have been destroyed by the earthquake of 1693, and that Sicily was headed at the time by the Spain, all three cities have been rebuilt in the exuberant Baroque style and flowering the Spaniards were famous for.
modica, Noto and Ragusa is all UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

5 things you need to do in Modica

1. Walk.

to get up early, hit back an espresso and hit the streets before the world wakes up.

wandering aimlessly through the streets of downtown, take in the architecture, photograph the gargoyles while no one is around to get in the way.

2. Experience Bonajuto

Outside-Bonajuto-Modica

Antico Dolceria Bonajuto is the oldest chocolate factory in Sicily. It has always been family, their chocolate has always been at hand, in the kitchen at the back of the store.

but this is not any ordinary chocolate. Chocolate Bonajuto is made in the Aztec style. Cocoa, sugar and spices are the only ingredients. Cocoa still contains it of cocoa butter and is just enough to make it fluid heated. The sugar is added but not allowed to melt, giving a chocolate texture grainy.

originally Bonajuto chocolate has been a source of power, not a dessert or a snack, it came in small blocks and is still made and served the same way today.

when you visit Antica Dolceria Bonajuto there are a variety of flavors for you to sample and once you have made your choice, they will be for you to take away box or ship home for you.

3. Visit the Cathedral of San Giorgio

the market up to the Cathedral is just beautiful. Art historian Andrew Graham Dixon compared the Cathedral for a quarter of Madonna on the city, sweeping open his coat to cover people of Modica.

I got this description roll in my mind that I approached the Cathedral and the image burned in my brain. It was perfect.

looking up the Cathedral will be breathtaking. Turning and looking down at the town of Modica will take away your breath. It is majestic.

4. Eat at Terrazze Campaille

it is easily one of the best dining experience of my life, everywhere in the world.
If you are anywhere near Modica, enjoy your meal in the Terrazze Campaille is essential. First, you will die just on the location. The restaurant is an old palace, with several rooms and terraces for dinner on. They can accommodate beautifully large parties, small parties, evenings in love couples, groups of friends and everyone can separate into different areas, so that your experience is unique.

, we were sitting on a terrace with a wonderful view, surrounded by flowers and foliage in an environment that could not have been more romantic, and had no idea that there is one the other side of the Palace.

Terrazze Campaille food is spectacular. The service is wonderful. After dinner, on our server took us a tour of the Palace, told us the history of the Palace, we talked about growing up in Modica, pointed out his home and his family through the Hill House. The experience was just beautiful.
, but do not take my word for it - go there yourself!

5. Enjoy Modica by night.

evenings in Modica are beautiful. Everyone is out walking and socializing. Saturday night at Modica is wonderful. The cafes and restaurants of downtown are spilling into the streets. Children and grandparents, teenagers and parents - the entire city is fun and you get absorbed in it. There is a very strong sense of belonging and feel incredibly safe.

modica is an artsy great little place. Saturday night we were musicians were playing sensational jazz, art galleries have been hosting events, a band played another event - it was just magical.

the palaces and churches are all illuminated at night. It is just beautiful.

there are statues of saints lining the steps. Halo of St Peter glowing in the evening light.

If you are planning a trip to Sicily, Modica is not far from Syracuse. Your nearest airport is Catania, and you're at close distance by car from Noto, Ragusa and Marzamemi, 3 hours away from Taormina. There are also many beaches in 20 minutes (ish), but also ferries to Malta if you're in the mood for a day trip.
