Purl Soho Mountain Capelet

Wyoming, Cheyenne - Report by Ashley. Today, we will give information about Purl Soho Mountain Capelet.

I just loved the simplicity of this capelet pattern so I gave it a try.

It only took me about 4 hours from start to finish and it really was a no brainer project! You can watch TV or do this with your eyes closed, I promise. I loved making this so much that I made two!

I absolutely adore all of Purl Soho's projects, from kitting, sewing to crocheting.... take a look
They are my to go to website for patterns.

Here is Purl Soho's capelet

Here is mine

I used 2 and a little more (maybe 1/4) skeins from Loops and Threads "cozy wool" in the granite color for this pattern and again in the mushroom color for the one pictured above.

Because my yarn has a different gauge (thinner) than the one described on their website, I increased the total number of stitches to 90 instead of 70.
When starting the decrease, I followed their instructions but instead of k29 as per their instructions I had to K39 since I have 20 extra stitches.
I also knitted two extra rows for the shoulder decrease so it feels tighter around the neck (I repeated the instructions for that section 8 times instead of 6) and I knitted the neck/cowl area until I almost ran out of yarn. This area (from the last decrease to the top) measures 4 inches only rather than 6 inches. If you have more yarn, go right ahead and continue knitting per their instructions. I just ran out and did not want to purchase another ball.

This piece is gorgeous! It falls right above my elbows, which gives my arms the room needed to move around without the capelet getting in the way. It covers a good portion of my upper body including the neck area which is where I usually tend to feel the coldest.

It is so comfy and cozy and really warms me enough without the bulkiness of a sweater. You should probably make it longer if you are tall and use all 3 skeins of the "cozy wool" or more and make the cowl longer if you want to cover your neck more. I have a small frame (5'2") and the measurements given on the website are perfect for me.

Note: If you plan on using Loops and threads "cozy wool" which is made of 50% wool and 50% acrylic, you can still use the spit splice method for joining your yarn pieces together rather than have to weave the ends into the project. I tried it even though felting requires working with 100% wool and it worked but know, that I did not use the wet method. Instead, I used my felting needles and a piece of foam to join my yarn.
If you want to learn more about the wet splice method, click  here for Purl Bee's tutorial.

The edges will curl a bit, so you should block this piece to give it a neater look. I did.

So what do you think?

I realized that I have been doing reviews about five times a month so I thought why not keep it that way?
Okay, it was basically a coincidence, so we'll see how it goes :)

Today's review will be on my Holy Grail Setting Spray!
I heard lots of rave about this product for the past years but didn't had the chance to purchase it myself because it keep on running out of stocks! (Daymn!)

Finally I managed to grab one during Sephora Malaysia's SALE
Which is really worth it!

    • Close eyes before misting.
    • Hold the bottle 8 to ten inches away and mist face two to four times, in an “X” and “T” formation.

I bought the small bottle of the spray because I wanted to give it a shot first.
I have quite a sensitive skin therefore, I always purchase a smaller version of the product I'd like to try in case my skin react to it in a negative way. *always play safe baby, play safe :p*

Okay, first impression is that when I tried to spray it, it'll take a few pumps to get the product actually functions because it's new. It took me around 4-5 pumps to finally have the product sprayed!
Advice: please try it first before pump it on your face! :o

As stated in the How-To, it suggest to take around 2-4 times but I just need two spray was good enough for me :)

Here's a picture of me during the day when I sprayed it.
Approximately around 11.30 am in the morning.

I went to a wedding reception, and later attended a formal events and even had a quick errands!

.
.
.
.
.
.
.

This is how it looks by 6.30pm in the evening! Still fresh to be honest! The picture may not be very clear about it but trust me!
I was literally amazed!
Throughout the day after I had my face sprayed, I only blotted my face with a tissue paper ONCE!
Best part,
my make up doesn't came off! *fly in happiness*

Usually after I blotted my face, some of my make up tends to fall off along with it which is so uncool.
With this spray, my face feeeels amazing and fresh the whole time.
Also, it doesn't give me an allergic reaction!
Officially my holy grail setting spray!
Worth every penny~~!

No kidding!
I had to grab the big bottles by the next day haha!

Told ya am grabbing the large one haha!

If you wanna give it a try too, if you haven't, YOU GOTTA FREAKING TRY ITTTT!

Pro:
+ Lightweight
+ Long lasting
+ True to its words

Con:
- A bit pricy for everyday use
- Still need to blot face some time
- It does make your make up last, but shine is still visible :)

For Malaysia buyer, you can purchase it via Sephora Malaysia!
It currently OUT OF STOCK (LIKE ALWAYS,DUH!)
It retailed for RM125 for the big bottle and RM55 for the travel size!

13 things you should do at the beginning of each year

California, Los Angeles - Report by Emily. Today, we will give information about 13 things you should do at the beginning of each year .

, I am a firm believer of working on a plan.
when I look back through my life at the time where things are really, really well , when I was the success of the great career and life is all simply fantastic, too, each of these spells has been for a while I was working on a plan, had written objectives, knew what I wanted then. It's like having a roadmap in hand, and if you just follow the plan get you where you want to be.
However the time when nothing much not going, when I feel like I'm floundering around, trying to find my way, still are the times when I don't have a written plan.
as we kick off this brand new year here is a list of things you must do every year

1. Make A list Of The Bad Things

sounds right counter productive? But believe me, it isn't.
look back at the year that just ended and make a list of things that emphasize you to halfway out of your mind, makes you nervous, makes fear or you overwhelmed. Then, write down how you won the battle, what the result was, how you feel about it now.
do us not always forward how incredibly strong, tough and fierce that we truly are. In hindsight that you find things that terrified you are more scary, the things that you pointed out more were not worth the energy, and you will see that you have some major coping skills you never even knew you had!
it puts into perspective the new year and gives you a little ammunition to deal with the inevitable bumps on the road with.

2. Stop now on heartache

one of the most destructive things we do is keep grasping the failed relationships. If your heart broke last year, or if you leave were low by someone terribly (it happens to everyone at some point in life), you write a letter either forgive this person or commit to just let go.
when you hang on to it, relive it, think, stay mad or bad, the only person who suffers is you. This type of thinking is toxic and penetrates into the rest of your life. Let go and move. If this person comes into your thoughts just send them love and light and shut the door on this subject.
once you have enough away from the relationship or the question look you back and see that hang it was a total waste of time anyway.
and if she still really hard to hold her ~ this too shall pass ~

3. Targets

anything you want in life, write it as a goal.
make the financial objectives both for the short term and long term.
set goals objectives relationship, travel goals, objectives for your House, your car - you name it. The key to success and achieve the things you want in life is to identify, get specific, ad then start to come up with a plan to get them.
do not know how to do it? Check out this post on how to set objectives

4. Make a Budget

the key not only for financial security, but for everything that makes the end of the month or at the end of the year, is to make a budget that represents for each dollar you earn, and where it goes.
want to travel? Buy a new car? Put in a pool? Whatever it is you want, add to your budget and look at the speed at which you can get there!
do not know how to create a budget? Read this post on how to make a Budget.

5. Delete the background image.

go through your home and your work space and empty all the clutter. You will be amazed at how clearly you can think of how much more relaxed you become when all the echoes are cleared. According to the art of Feng Shui, background image has a negative effect on us emotionally, physically and mentally.
discover the absolute magic to simplify, organize and clear your space to the cleaning of the consultant Marie Kondo world famous Japanese book:

change the lives of the magic of ranger upward: Art Japanese of Decluttering and organizing

6. Clean your closet.

this is part of the number 5, but it is also important on its own.
you will undoubtedly find the great pieces, that you had forgotten and in the process can streamline your wardrobe.
you already know what to go. Make a donation and record what is separate.

7. Clean your makeup drawer.

everything out, clean and decide what is good and what needs to be trashed.
do not know if your makeup gone wrong? Check out this post:
how to tell if your makeup has Gone Bad

8. Buy new underwear.

go through your lingerie drawer and mix all that is no longer in excellent condition. Underwear that have elastic bad, saggy bottoms, frayed edges, have faded colors, do not quite right, especially your every day items - get rid of them. I think it's a good idea to start the year with fresh, new underwear every day.

Nice Bliss Bloom Natori Thong is the perfect addition to your Collection of underwear of new year

9. Equipped to Bra A

get at least once each year, you should get redeveloped for a bra.
sometimes you will find nothing has changed, other times, especially after the loss of weight or weight gain, hormonal changes, changes in exercise routines, you'll find things have really changed.
unless you want boobies flabby and soft and hanging down to your navel, you need stay on Top how to adapt your arm.
(I can't stress this for girls full chest chest/heavy-we are fighting gravity exceeds all other girls!)

10. Re-evaluate your beauty products

its so easy to just stick with what you have used for centuries and are not account that his work is more a magic on your skin.
of your skin needs of changes in climate, with your age, your changing hormones. If you want bright, glowing, healthy skin that you must change the products you use to meet the needs of your skin.
I'm in love with skin care Korean and Korean women with their skin how world famous and exquisite layer of their products. You can read about it here : Face West ~ how to your skin care layer Korean-Style

change the arrangement of the rooms you spend most of your time in the changes how you perceive this space. Sometimes it's all you need to feel refreshed and invigorated and inspired.
and if you don't like, you can always change it back.
I love white, Scandinavian-style rooms.

12. Book a trip.

, you can expect at least a few trips for the coming year.
Maybe it's a big trip abroad, this is perhaps a long weekend. Plan to vacation at the beach, a mountain hut or an escape in a new city. Everything that fits your style, just get it on the calendar.
If you don't plan out earlier this year, chances are another year will roll and you will have gone nowhere

13. Buy a really great pair of shoes

, sometimes that means he forecast of the season where you really need, but try to buy a pair of very good quality, timeless, walk-around-all-day-and-still-feel-great shoes. The shoes that go with everything, that chic look, and you feeling fabulous.
they will set will cost you a little (or a lot) more, but a very good shoe is a great investment in yourself.

10 things you must do when you're in Florence

Oregon, Portland - Report by Olivia. Today, we will give information about 10 things you must do when you're in Florence .

Florence is one of my favorite cities absolute in the world.
no matter how many times I go to Florence, I always discover something new.
I never get bored with Florence, and I never feel like I'm done.
Florence is magical.

David-Palazzo-Vecchio

here's a list of 10 things you must do when you're in Florence:

Florence-Arno

1. Take a walk at the beginning.

get up early (at least once while you're there) and go for a long walk.

Florence gets so filled with tourists during the day and night that it becomes almost impossible to get only once with its statues, its famous doors, large places. During the day you can almost never break a picture without cluttering it other travellers.
but at the beginning of the morning, the streets are empty, and it's all yours.

2. Eat boar

one of the Tuscan terroir is boar or wild boar.
each restaurant serves it, taken at their own recipe and it's fantastic.

Florence-pasta

3. Visit Church of Santa Croce

Florence is full of amazing churches with amazing art, and (for me) Santa Croce is one of the most spectacular.

Santa-Croce-Church
Church of Santa Croce, in the shadow of the moring early

(the art inside Santa Croce) considered to be the most impressive art Church in the whole of Florence. Cycles of frescoes of Giotto in triumphal cross of Cimabue breathtaking, the art of Santa Croce is spectacular.
it is also home to the most impressive tombs of Florence, the final resting place of Michelangelo, Rossini, Dante Alighieri, Ghiberti, Galileo and Machiavelli. Largely ignored by tourists, the Church of Santa Croce is an absolute must.

4 Get Up High

Florence

you choose to climb the 463 markets on top of the Cathedral, or perhaps much less stairs to the top of the Tower of the Palazzo Vecchio, stand up and admire the enchanting view of one of the most beautiful European cities.

5. Take long walks at night.

like the walks early in the morning are a must in Florence, are so long evening walks after the Sun has gone down.
one of the great loves of my life living in Florence, (if you'll fall in love, it might as well be with an Italian, right?) and for the many years of nights in Florence were synonymous with long walks around the city, taking in all the incredible palaces and churches, beautiful doors, statues, the essence of Florence bathed in the light of the moon.

Santa-Maria-Del-Fiore-Night

as beautiful as she is by day, Santa Maria Del Fiore (the Duomo) is just mesmerizing per night. Florence is pure magic by night.

6. Look Up

while taking night of walking time you have the opportunity to see murals and ceilings incredible hidden during the day, but visible at night when people turn on their lights. When we would be outside during the night (and even now, as the dearest of friends) he always says "Search!" when we walk by the frescoes breathtaking on the upper floors of the palazzi, scattered throughout the city.

7. Take A Tour of a special place

Florence-Piazza-Della-Signoria

when I was in Florence this past December I've been incredibly lucky to have a private tour of secret passages and rooms hidden on the Palazzo Vecchio. It was so impressive that I promised myself immediately whenever I go back to Florence, I'll take a little tour of a special place. This medieval town is full of passages and hidden corridors, it is art in the rafters, there is art behind the walls. It is a rich history of intrigue and treachery and means that there is constantly fascinating secret treasures to discover. The ideal way to experience it is with art historian you ask about all the stories, make them come alive for you.
magic.

8. Eat the best "sandwich" of your life

foccaccia-florence

has a few blocks from Palazzo Vecchio and the Uffizi Gallery on via Dei Neri you will find Osteria All' Antico Pompéi
it's super easy to find because they have a trattoria on each side of the road and up to the end of each night , there are always people spread out on the sidewalk with sandwiches focaccia giant in one hand and large glasses of red wine, strong in the other, while queue brothers patiently in lines that weave in the street, wait as long as necessary to get their turn at the counter. I guarantee that you have never had a "sandwich" quite as before!
you can on command, but I learned people waiting with me in the line and the others having spasms or gourmet delight as they leaned against the walls or sitting on the curb eating their panini how to deal with this beast was the order of the displayed list of favorites. (90% of the patrons were all order the same thing, so I thought I'd just what they were doing.) Perhaps one of the biggest decisions I ever made.)
it is no nitrite, nitrate no food, no Monsanto, fresh, local, real.
, you won't find anything as crass as a fountain soda here, but you will find a selection of red wines the they sell by the bottle or by the glass.
and just how do you think the sandwich of the century will cost you? €5. It's the bargain of the century!

9. Explore Oltrarno

, literally "the other side of the Arno", there are so many things to see when you cross the river. You have large sites, the Pitti Palace, the gardens of Boboli, Piazzale Michelangelo and San Spirito with its Brunelleschi designed the Interior, but you also have medieval streets without end full of antique shops and local artisans. As you walk in you will find less and less tourists, which means the price of everything breaks down. It is easy to spend days on end lose you in the quarters of Florence - there is so much to discover.
while wandering to find your way to Santa Maria Del Carmine. The Cappella Brancacci houses a cycle of renaissance frescoes that changed the course of Western art. Started by Masaccio and Masolino in about 1424 and finished 50 years later by Filippino Lippi, this program uses a revolutionary technique can point using unique perspective. Turn to the pier of the superior to Adam and Eve left input and notice the dramatic way in which their bodies reflect a liGHT that seems to emanate from in the paint, but the outside world. It's beautiful.

10. Buy leather

Florence is known worldwide for its incredible leather goods.
If you are not at the point of Gucci and Prada price shopping, then it comes to town for you! You can buy beautifully made leather bags, belts, luggage, wallets and jackets all over Florence, especially on the San Lorenzo market, but there are no more what you buy, or that you buy to ensure that you are getting good quality and not a Made In China rip off.
for years and years now, I've been buying my very dear friend Jimmy Ahmed Jimmy leather collection leather. I have sent so many people to Jimmy over the years, and everyone is always super happy to go there. Learn more about the purchase of leather in Florence here

I give a bonus tip, because I can't refine it until just 10 tips of Bonus...

eat Panforte

Panforte-Mandorlata
fact of Panforte with coffee for a perfect snack in the middle of the morning

this is actually a delight of Sienese, but you can find it everywhere in Florence. Not a bread, and still not quite a cake panforte is a divine combination of nuts, dried fruit, honey and spices flourless. My favorite type is Mandorlata. You do so much walking all day in Florence, it is easy to justify a small slice with your morning cappuccino.
