Favorite Scones

Nevada, Las Vegas - Report by Ella. Today, we will give information about Favorite Scones.

I find myself buying scones every time I go to Panera. As much as I love the cinnamon kind, I never got around to making them. It seems that chocolate chips and blueberry scones are the most common flavors to bake maybe because cinnamon chips are so hard to find or only available during the Holidays.

Well.......Search no longer! I came across this great recipe for cinnamon chips so I thought I should start baking right away.

I have been baking dozens of scones ever since. I have shared them around and around. No one seems disappointed and my father-in-law wants "encore, encore and encore". Which certainly is  a compliment since he is a great baker himself.

Enough talking...let's get cooking...

Cinnamon Chips

Ingredients:
Makes approximately 2 cups.

2/3 Cup Granulated Sugar
3 Tablespoons Ground Cinnamon
2 Tablespoons Vegetable Shortening
2 Tablespoons Light Corn Syrup
1/4 teaspoon Vanilla Extract

Instructions:

Preheat your oven to 200 degrees

Mix ingredients together with a fork. It will take a while and the dough should look like the one  pictured above when it is ready. Not too gooey or too dry

With your fingers spread the dough flat onto a piece of parchment paper that has been sprayed lightly.
Bake for 35 minutes and let cool completely

Slice the dough into strips and then cut across to make small squares

When the entire dough is sliced into cubes, I place them in a paper bag for about 24 hours to give them time to dry a bit and then I transfer them to a Ziploc bag until needed

At this point, the consistency of these chips is so soft that they will blend a little too well with the scones dough if used right away. Trust me on this one. I could not wait to bake and ended up with chip less but very flavorful scones! So if you are a chippy kind of person, wait a day or two to use the cinnamon chips.

Scones

Ingredients:

2 cups All Purpose flour
1/3 Cup sugar
1 teaspoon Baking Powder
1/4 teaspoon Baking Soda
1/2 teaspoon Salt
8 Tablespoons (1 Stick) Unsalted Butter, Frozen
1/2 Cup Sour Cream
1 Large Egg
1/2 Cup Cinnamon chips

Instructions:

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Add flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt to food processor. Mix well.
Cut the butter into small squares, add to the flour mixture and pulse until blended. The flour mixture should look dense but not clumpy at this point.
Blend sour cream and egg together in a small bowl and add to the flour mixture. Pulse until a ball of dough starts to form. Add Cinnamon Chips or Chocolate chips. Pulse a few more times until blended and a ball has formed.
Remove dough and place onto a lightly floured surface to form a disk about 3/4 inch think. Sprinkle with a little bit of sugar and slice the dough into 8 triangles. Place wedges on a silpad non stick mat or parchment paper and bake for 15 to 17 minutes. The top should be slightly brown. You do not want to overcook them.

I love my "France" Glass. Thanks to my friend Mary Evans for thinking of me. She also gave me a "Paris" one to go with that one.

Love me some cinnamon scones
I didn't really eat two, although I think I could have

I also made a batch of Chocolate Chip Scones

Can you see the choc chips?
Yummy

9 things you should do before going to Italy this summer

Georgia, Atlanta - Report by Makayla. Today, we will give information about 9 things you should do before going to Italy this summer .

was will be here before you know and if you have decided to travel to Italy this year during the months of sunshine there are several things you can do now to prepare. Today, we look at nine of them.

Italy-Travel-Tips

9 things you need to do before go you to Italy this summer

1. Buy travel insurance.

I can not stress enough strongly.
buy. Trip. Insurance.

take a look at the most popular travel insurance Allianz has to offer.

it's not expensive and it will protect you against the flights missed or cancelled, lost luggage, and medical problems, including driving you home with a nurse if necessary. If you fall ill and can't travel it will help you to recover your losses.
I get mine by Allianz, but go around and see what works best for you.

find out the Top ten reasons why people buy travel insurance and see if it's right for you.

2. Get your driving license International

If you have there chance to drive in Italy, it's great fun!
If you are on a tour or a cruise you won't probably time to do any driving, but if you are roaming on your own or with a few extra days at the end of your tour, make sure that you have an international driving permit. (You can pick them up at AAA)

read about the car rental in Italy here

3. Book now your Intercity Trains.

the system of train in Italy is incredible. Its super efficient, quick, and inexpensive. (Why don't we have that here?)

intercity-train-italy
check the beautiful driver Rome to Florence fast train

local trains are very cheap and you just bought your ticket to the man at the ticket office (or the timestamp), but the high-speed IC can cost a fortune if you buy tickets on the day at the station. I use RailEurope.com and buy all my intercity train travel time before online.
I just finished buying all the tickets of intercity train for world Glam Italia towers from 2016 Corinna B. By purchasing tickets in advance, we are able to travel first class for the same price as the economy.
which means more money for shopping!

4. Book tickets for museums, Colosseums and day trips.

do not waste 3 hours of your luxury holiday in line waiting for tickets to enter the Uffizi Gallery or the Coliseum, book your tickets online before you go.
If you have decided to take a trip a day somewhere book now before it gets sold out.

5. Google where you're going.

Giardini-Naxos-Sicily
notice of Giardini Naxos in the Greek theatre of Taormina in Sicily

don't rely just on your guide to tell you - do a little research yourself. You will find that there is something that you would die to see in the next town to the course, or you'll be near a famous winery or the art museum you want to go.
Italian towns and villages have their own market day each week. With a bit of knowledge in your channel you can plan trips a day around the market days so that you don't miss the.

there is always some music festivals, festivals celebrating the saints local, parades - all kinds of fantastic events that it would be a shame to miss, so search for the cities you want and also look at other cities and villages.

6. Read reviews on TripAdvisor

TripAdvisor is your best friend when you travel. Comments on where to eat, where to sleep, what good does it do in the town or village you want to, there is a lot of information, all presented by other travellers.

I found so many amazing places to go, things to do and absolutely killer places where to eat in Italy from reading the reviews on TripAdvisor.
not to be missed! See Top Hotel Deals today on TripAdvisor
I'm out there like world of Corinna B, and as much as possible, I try to leave comments too.
you can book flights on TripAdvisor and find a place to stay.
that's great!

7. Learn simple things to say

everywhere where you travel in the world, you still need to learn a few basic things to say including Hello, goodbye, please, thank you, where is, how much it costs, etc.
make an effort and be polite to the two will get you a long way in a foreign country.

8. Make sure your Passport is current

, you have enough time to get your passport renewed or to get a new passport. But you don't have a lot of time.

9. Learn cooking, at the regional level

learn the wines also.
is not just "Italian cuisine". The kitchen changes at the regional level.
in my experience, it is very different from most of the American-Italian food.
make research on foods of places you go so that you don't miss out on something fantastic that is specific to a place that you travel to.
eat Panforte in Tuscany, particularly in his. Cicchetti of eat and drink a spritz of Venice, you must try baba "in Naples and of course eat a pizza and drink their amazing coffee (learn more about Naples here)." Limoncello drink when you're on the Amalfi Coast - all places in Italy has something special!

The magic of Marzamemi

Maryland, Baltimore - Report by Addison. Today, we will give information about The magic of Marzamemi .

Baroque-Sicily-Marzamemi

Sicily is my favorite place on Earth.

endlessly fascinating, it is an island that offers so many things, amazing wines, sensational food, history, art, architecture, and then there are those points of view. Views to die for. The oceans, beaches, the volcano. There are so many things!

my Glam Tour Italia last year stayed in Sicily Baroque.
a place we went to who was supposed to be the visit of a few hours, but that has transformed travel daily return was something tiny teeny to a fishing village called Marzamemi.

Marzamemi is divine.

refer to the domination of the Arab islands in the 9th century, Marzamemi is supposed to eventually say the doves (Marsa al hamen) or Mougeot, which means small port of the Bay.

Marzamemi has the Palace of the prince, who, in his time, ran the place from its terrace,

a factory now closed, tuna (which was built during the reign of the Arabs of Sicily (, and was one of the most important on the island) 2 baroque churches and the houses of fishermen.

the port is full of small boats.

Marzamemi-harbor

, we took a tour of a day on the boat, explore the coast between the point where the Mediterranean meets the Ionian Sea and the rip tides will multiply you upward and you will remove, down beyond the Vendicari natural reserve , stop and bathing in the sea, you can imagine and floating off the coast lying around just enjoying the Sun.

sicilian-food

one of the reasons why we continue in Marzamemi was to visit restaurants. They are phenomenal.

marzamemi-sicily

you can sit for hours, eating Sicilian kitchen amazing fresh fish, fruits and vegetables, breads the and it wash with glasses of local Nero d'Avola.

Sicilians are so friendly, they'll never talk to you.

when you're finally ready to move away you need a couple of espressos to give you the strength to walk down to the beach in Marzamemi or near San Lorenzo.

southeast-sicily-beaches

I can't imagine living a life that won't let me go back to Marzamemi.

I would not necessarily stay there - we stayed nearby Avola as well as Modica and I'd like to stay a few nights in Noto next time, but I know that whenever I'm in the southeast of Sicily, my days will be peppered with visits in this former fishing village.

Marzamemi is in the province of Syracuse, easily accessible by car from Catania, Siracusa, Ragusa, Modica and Noto Baroque cities.
