Anti Aging Face Oil

For years, I have struggled to find a face moisturizer that will work for my skin. I have tried many brands, some were good but expensive others left my skin too dry or too oily and even sometimes gave me break out. Being on a budget, I decided it was time to experiment with the essential oils I have been collecting over the years and I found an excellent recipe for an anti aging face oil which does not leave my face oily, dry or with breakouts. I have used this oil for several months and have received many compliments. I don't think I could ever go back to buying another tube or jar of face cream that contains so many chemicals.



Essential Oils

I have been using essential oils in my bath, as air fresheners, as face steamers for fighting colds  and cleansing my skin.. for over 15 years. Not only these oils are natural oils, they have so many great benefits for your well being and and ave countless uses. If you are interested in knowing more about aromatherapy, I can suggest two of my favorite books.

The first book was written by Valerie Ann Worwood - The Book of Essential Oils & Aromatherapy.

The second book was written by Franzesca Watson - Aromatherapy Blends & Remedies.

These books are full of information and recipes and I like them both. I have made many blends from either one of them but if you ask me which one I rely the most on, I would have to say the Valerie Ann Worwood book. I love the detailed information and all the essential oils charts.

Now about that anti aging hydrating face oil.....

Valerie Ann Worwood has several recipes divided by four age groups.

The wrinkle preventative for the over-twenty, over-thirty, over-forty and over-fifty.

I am going to share her recipe for the over-thirty as I am turning 40 this year and felt that I no longer belonged in the over-thirty six months ago.

Neroli - 10 drops

Lavender - 10 drops

Frankincense - 10 drops

Rosemary  - 2 drops

Fennel - 10 drops

Lemon - 3 drops

Carrot - 1 drops

Evening Primrose - 10 drops.

Diluted in 2 tablespoons of either hazelnut, almond or apricot oil.

Lightly massage the mix every night on the face, and if you wish, on the neck and chest as far as the collar bone.

I have used both almond and apricot oil for this recipe and I find the apricot oil to be less thick and oily. After massaging it, you may wipe off any excess oil on your skin.

Well, I hope you can give it a try and let me know how it turns out. I know that essential oils can be expensive but they last a very long time and if you research them online, you can find online stores who sell them at a pretty reasonable price. I know I have.

Faux Shiplap Wall How To

Oregon, Portland - Report by Samantha. Today, we will give information about Faux Shiplap Wall How To.

This project has been on my to do list for quite some time now and I don't know why it took me so long to get it done as this was an easy project.

The area to cover is a small garage entry way in the back of the house. The plank wall idea was to give this space a more beachy brighter feel since it is very small and dark.

After researching "faux plank walls/faux shiplap" etc... on the web, it seemed that everyone had their utility plywood sheets cut into 6 inches wide pieces so I did the same. The bottom plank closest to the baseboard would need to be ripped to fit the space but it seemed easier to do than have to figure out exact measurements.

Materials:

- Measuring tape and pencil
- 4'x8'x5mm utility plywood panels
- Corner trim
- Nail Gun (we used our cordless ryobi 18 gauge brad nailer) and nails
- Miter saw
- Other ripping saw (we used a band saw with a ripping arm but you could use a bladerunner saw, a jig saw or a circular saw)
- Putty
- Latex fast dry paintable caulk
- Primer (or not)
- Paint of choice (we used Sherwin Williams white gloss trim paint)

Instructions:

For this small space, we had to purchase 4 utility plywood panels measuring 4' x 8' x 5mm. Ours were primed a pink/orange color on one side.
The employee at lowes cut all four sheets at once every 6 inches length wise and so were left with 32 plank pieces to transport home.

1. Start by marking the studs on the walls so you know where to nail the planks. I have read of people adding glue to the back of the planks as well but I chose to opt out, in case I decide on another maker over for this space.

2. As every instructions on the internet says, start by nailing your planks from ceiling down as some ceilings aren't straight after the settling of the house.

3. To give the wall a shiplap look, place as many nickels as you need between the top/above plank and the one you will be nailing below. We used 4 nickels for the long planks and 1 or 2 for the short ones, in case you wonder.

We've had to cut a lot of planks to size for this space since we have 4 doors in that hallway. What a time consuming job! Thanks to the hubby and the miter saw.  I can't imagine cutting these by hand.

4. Putty the nail holes and caulk the edges and inner corners that need to be caulked and try to do a better job then me! 

5. Sand everything that needs to be sanded. Vacuum the gaps and wipe the wood clean of dust.

6. add the outer corner trims (I forgot to take a photo before painting)

7. Prime your wall(s)

8. Paint

9. Paint some more and voila! All done

10. We updated our builder grade light! We replaced it with a beautiful handmade light from the LampGoods on Etsy. This one was made by using a repurposed vintage fan cage. For more lights like this one check out the LampGoods shop here

Get More Sleep

I so envy JLo. Not for the career or the money or the clothes. I envy her because she gets 8 to 10 hours sleep per night. 
How do you even do that? As a single mom I get 5, which is really bad on so many levels. 

One of the best things you can do for your skin is get ample sleep each night. Ample being a good 8 hours.

additional sleep (like JLo gets apparently) makes your skin look even lovelier.

drink More Water

We all already know about drinking more water, but plenty of us still don't drink enough. You need to drink eight 8 ounce glasses of water per day just for good health. Doing just that will make a difference to your skin, adding a couple more glasses will improve your skin's clarity and texture hugely.

Be Pillowcase Pretty

There are 2 significant things you can do in pillowcase-land to significantly benefit your skin.

The first is to invest in a silk pillowcase. 

Sleeping on silk stops (or at least reduces) waking up with creases pressed into your skin. (Sleep creases have been likened to ironing wrinkles into your skin.) Irritated skin feels soothed after a night on silk, possibly due to the lack of friction associated with regular cotton pillow cases. 

You'll see noticeably less puffiness when you wake up, and after a few days your skin will feel softer too.

The other thing you need to do is change your pillowcase out every few days. Sleeping we dirty shower can contribute to acne and skin irritation, and can extended the healing process.

clean The Right Way

Make sure you are using the right cleanser for your skin type, and be gentle with your skin. Don't rub and scrub it, instead massage the cleanser into your skin and gently rinse it away with a warm washcloth.

Typically foaming/wash style cleansers are better for oiler skin while cleansing milks are lovely for a drier complexion. 
I love oil cleansers for all skins. Try Malin and Goetz Facial Cleansing Oil, suitable for all akin types.

Only Exfoliate Gently

Try year enzyme mask instead of a scrub exfoliator. Scrubs tends to rough up the baby skin underneath, keeping you in the cycle of irritated or roughed up skin.

if you do go the scrub road, use one with super fine grain and use it gently.

Add year Oil

Adding a facial oil into your skin care regime will keep your skin soft and extra and give it the most gorgeous glow. Look for year oil with a dry finish if you are worried about looking shiny.

I've been using Tatcha Camellia Beauty Oil for a while now. This dry finish oil gives your skin nourishment and makes your skin look and feel amazing both luscious.
It is also a fantastic skin rescue product, if you are feeling any dryness or irritation from the cold weather. 

clean Your Phone (And Your Glasses!)

Keeping your cell phone and your glasses clean is nearly as important and cleansing your skin.

Buy local markets for fresh, all products grown within a radius of 10 miles and taken to be sold today, with flavor that explodes in your mouth. (Unlike the factory without flavor of livestock produce here in the United States)

Podere Cunina is located 3 km outside Buonconvento , near Siena . An easy walk to Rome or Florence it is set in the perfect location to drive in Tuscany and really lived the Majesty of this amazing part of the world.

after a long day enjoy yourself it's all just lovely to sit on the patio and have a prosecco as you watch the Sun put the Montalcino neighbors (one of my favorite cities in the whole Italy).

fans love the region, because it is home to Brunello, one of my red favorite of all time.

Silvana is the ultimate host. She always has ideas of great places to see and experience. She always tells me about the fabulous villages that are the tour bus (fortunately) do not know, is where the best local markets informed constantly and when, what restaurants and coffee you must not miss and has the most beautiful stories on this spectacular of the world group.

lovers Under The Tuscan Frances Mayes Sun , and its subsequent volumes of life in Tuscany will love Cortona driving to , which is not too far away and spending the day's walk at every moment in his world of delicious Tuscany. (I think at this point I probably know his books by heart)

summer is not the only time to enjoy Tuscany. Spring and autumn are beautiful, and this past year I've benefited too little magic before Christmas in Tuscany.
